Top 3 Tenerife Sights to See by Car

If you’ve got Tenerife holidays on your radar this year, why sit around the pool all day when you could discover the many hidden gems and must-see sights that are scattered across this fabulous island? There’s so much to see in Tenerife, and car hire is the perfect way to experience the best of it.Check out Canarias Car Rental for more information on Tenerife car hire. You can search and book online before you go, which means there will be a car ready and waiting for you on arrival – plus you’ll benefit from the latest deals and discounts.

And once you’ve got your set of wheels, make sure you add these Tenerife beauties to your must-see list:

1. Teide National Park
No Tenerife road trip is complete without visiting Teide National Park. It’s a huge, sprawling place that’s as diverse as the island itself, with pine-clad hillsides and alpine style views giving way to barren lava fields and bizarre twisting rock formations. It’s a pretty spectacular place at ground level, and the scenery only gets more dramatic as you make your way towards the rather majestic Mt Teide. It’s a sleeping volcano that dominates the island and has its own cable car that can whizz you to the top. Go on a clear day for fabulous views across the island and out to neighbouring La Gomera.

2) Masca Valley
Refusing to let Teide have all the fun, Masca Valley is a stunning place with some quite ridiculous hairpin mountain roads. Drive with care or, if you prefer to sit back and enjoy the scenery, you could always join a tour or book a taxi. It’s based in the northwest tip of the island in the Teno mountain range, so expect plenty of steep drops, cliffs and gorges. Enjoy a wander around the small village and grab a cup of coffee before heading off for a hike. There are plenty of walks, one popular one being a trail from the village through a ravine to the sea, at the base of the Los Gigantes cliffs.

3) A Tenerife Mystery
Drive along the east coast and stop at the Pyramids of Güímar. These six pyramid-shaped structures have been built from lava stone and are thought to date back to the 19th century, yet their purpose remains shrouded in mystery. Why not check out these historic structures and throw your own theory into the equation?

These are just three of a long list of things to see and do in Tenerife.
